After years of serving up hip-hop and R&B, radio station Wave 89.1 FM has signed off the air.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Monday, April 15, the radio announced its final broadcast and thanked their loyal listeners for years of support.

“The end is here. We want to thank everyone for all the love and support over the years. What a wild ride it has been, Manila,” the post read.

“While our hearts are pinched, we want to announce that Wave 89.1 has made its final broadcast. So many memories. Good times and bad. Laughter and tears. We changed the game. No one can say otherwise,” the statement continued.

The station also acknowledged everyone who contributed to their success, including DJs, staff, and guests.

“Thanks to all the former DJs, managers, directors, techs, guests, and anyone who has ever set foot in our studio. You helped us make history,” it added.

While it’s a sad day for its listeners, Wave 89.1 encouraged listeners to remember the amazing people and music that filled the airwaves.

“Thank you, Manila for the many years of love and support. We did a lot of great things together! It’s a sad day for all of us, but we’re gonna remember all the amazing people and music that came through our airwaves,” it wrote.

A new station, AWR 89.1 FM, is reportedly to be taking over the frequency.
