Three anthems about relationship struggles

Sometimes the universe throws challenges and misunderstandings in a relationship to test its strength and love. Though it may bring sadness and grief, these experiences contribute to one’s growth and becoming wiser in life.

Check out these relationship anthems from Kapamilya artists Chie, Maki, and Derick that showcase different struggles in love:

1. Running around in circles in “Sa Simula” by Chie

Chie’s ‘Sa Simula’ explores the feeling of starting all over again in love

Former The Voice Teens Philippines season 1 finalist Chie formerly known as Archie Aguilar dives into the experience of being unable to get over a loved one in his latest single “Sa Simula” released under Old School Records. Chie wrote and produced the emotional track with Kiko “KIKX” Salazar that captures the feeling of being back to square one in a relationship and still hung up on the love one is harboring.

‘HBD’ by Maki takes on a reminiscent tone of a person thinking about old memories of a relationship long over

Singer-songwriter Maki looks back on the lingering memories of a past relationship while partying with friends in the music video of his new single “HBD.” Various personalities such as Kaori Oinuma, Arthur Miguel, Janine Teñoso, Cesca, JunJun Salarzon, Aiyana Perlas, Eya Cruz, and Nameless Kids even made a cameo. “Para kaming hindi nag-shoot. Para lang kaming nag-bonding all throughout. I really felt na this time ang dami ko nang friends and I appreciate everyone na pumunta at sumama sa MV,” said Maki. The Tarsier Records’ release has earned almost a million streams on Spotify since it dropped last January.

3. Defying distance in “Agwat” by Derick

Up-and-coming artist Derick tackles the struggles of being in a long distance relationship in his new single “Agwat.” The upbeat pop track talks about fighting for love despite the distance that separates them. It was also produced by Kiko who co-wrote the track with Derick. “Agwat” marks Derick’s second single under Old School Records following “Goodbye For Now” released last year.
