What do Ogie Alcasid and Odette Quesada have in common? They’re both accomplished singers and songwriters who have established illustrious careers on the local music scene. Alcasid is celebrating his 35th year, and Quesada, her 40th.

“She’s a singer and a songwriter. So, we have a kind of kindred spirit. I can identify with what she has done. She said she was excited to do a concert with me. And of course, I am beyond thrilled,” Alcasid says.

The OPM (Original Pinoy Music) admits that he is a fan of Quesada. He shared that back when he was still a student and a member of Kundirana (a High School Music Ministry from La Salle Green Hills), Quesada was one of the music artists he admired, alongside Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, ZsaZsa Padilla, and Rico Puno.

“Her music is part of my childhood. So, to do something like that, a show with her, is super exciting,” the 56-year-old artist adds.

Alcasid is sharing the concert stage with Quesada in the Valentine’s show dubbed Love, Q&A at the NUSTAR Convention Center on Feb. 13, and Newport Performing Arts Theater on Feb. 14 and 15.

“I couldn’t contain my excitement when concert producer Nancy Yang approached me about the idea of performing together with Miss Odette. And During the pictorial, I got to talk to her, I realized that I had actually been a guest at her concert before,” says Alcasid.

“She’s so simple about what she says. Pinoy na Pinoy. So when she was writing her songs, she was in her 20s. She’s a genius. I’m just honored to be sharing the same stage with one of my music heroes. We also paid tribute to her on ASAP, and I sang ‘Give Me A Chance,’” he adds.

Part of their concert repertoire includes songs that have become anthems for hopeless romantics, such as “Till I Met You,” “Kailangan Kita,” “Don’t Know What to Say (Don’t Know What to Do),” “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” “Farewell,” “Pangako,” “Growing Up,” and “Mahal Kita Wala Ng Iba,” just to name a few.
