Groove Manila presents MANOMISSION in Boracay

This year marks the return of the iconic and highly-anticipated events during Manila’s raving heyday, from the inception of the warehouse party scene in the late ‘90s to its height in the mid-2000s.

For six years, from the very first MANOMISSION in April 1998 to the final one in 2004, the annual pilgrimage to Boracay Island during Holy Week delivered its followers to greater heights of consciousness and good times, where they lived furiously, working hard and partying even harder, living the loved-up life, from one party to the next in a trance of unadulterated celebration of life with pureness unmatched.

The annual event attracted people from all over the country to gather, converge and hear the gospel from DJ Manolet Dario’s pulpit of House music. Such was his cult following that the tribe grew each year, and where he went, they followed.

An iconic and key figure in Manila’s electronic dance music industry, also nicknamed Godfather of House Music in the Philippines, DJ Manolet was a natural born nightlife impresario through the decades. His brand name –MANOMISSION–is an invitation to engage.

MANOMISSION and alongside Teddy Dario (who now runs retro nights at Wild Flour every Friday and at Stardust on Thursdays), and s who now runs his own event venue and podcast studio in Dubai, shares a short history of the renowned event:

“We started Manomission as a direct ‘homage’ to Ibiza’s ManUmission, featuring none other than Manolet Dario, homegrown Filipino talent! So hence the name,” said Natural Born Klubber (NBK) co-founder and former MTV director Ian Carles.

“We had a lot of similarities: we already had NBK events and we had Boracay, an amazing tropical island. I hoped we might have a chance of Boracay becoming Asia’s Ibiza. At least that was the dream,” he added.

Although MANOMISSION was nowhere near the size and scale of ManUmission, Carles said it had “all the right ingredients.”

With DJ residencies at Nokal, Pablo Bistro, The Spirits Library and Stardust, DJ Manolet is no stranger to younger generations of partyphiles, both here and abroad.

He recently performed alongside Tiefschwarz, Demi Requisimo, Phil Weeks, Lovebirds, Sivanesh, Marc Roberts, Victor Simonelli, Devin, Dodgy Yamamoto, Piem at W Hotel Barcelona, and most recently at The Tanjong Beach Club in Singapore last March 29.

This coming May 9 to 12, brace yourselves for the most highly anticipated event of the summer season, and perhaps of the year, as DJ Manolet celebrates 60 revolutions around the sun by gathering “the love generation” in another milestone:

May 9: Sunset sessions at Seawind

May 10: Sunset sessions at Seawind + Party at Club Tropicana Night

May 11: Sunset sessions at Seawind

May 12: Sunset sessions at DiniBeach Bar and Restaurant

MANOMISSION is powered by Angkas and Maven, and is co-presented by Seawind Resort Boracay, Club Tropicana Boracay, Dinibeach Bar and Restaurant, Boracay, Stardust, Nokal, Kampai, The Spirits Library, New Era Philippines and Katinko. It is supported by Planet, Urban Boutique Hotel, Boracay Sun News, Rafikimono and Sound Project Boracay.
