Former DICT Usec: I never had any share at DITO at any point in time

While you have published my Letter Complaint, you have not made any effort in correcting your article which to me is a sloppy and irresponsible piece of reporting. As long as that article is not corrected, my reputation is continuously being tarnished without any factual basis.

First, the original source of the article is the Peso Economics blog entitled “Rio also unloaded P4.4M worth of DITO shares" published online last July 5, written by a certain Albert Reyes supposedly a reporter of Inquirer, which was deleted very shortly thereafter, because Inquirer disowned "Albert Reyes" as its writer. In other words, this may be a fictitious name. Also, the blog is known to be publishing fake news.

Second, while the original fake news said that I withdrew P4.4M, your report said that my withdrawal was P44.4M, which a simple arithmetic calculation will show that this is impossible. This clearly indicates that you did not check your source thoroughly in accordance with journalistic ethics and standards.

Your article still stands as is and continues to be carried by others, like the following:-

I demand that you correct your article for you can not show any credible source that said I withdrew P44.4M, and the source you may be referring to is actually fake news. To be clear, I never had any share at DITO at any point in time, much less withdraw such a staggering amount, the obvious objective of such malicious article is to besmirch my reputation. As it now stands and if such baseless article is left uncorrected, authored by no less than the Manila Standard, you can be considered a purveyor of fake news over the internet, and shall be liable for cyberlibel, among others.
