DepEd chief tests positive for COVID-19

Education Secretary Leonor Briones has tested positive for COVID-19 but remains asymptomatic.

"We are sad to hear that Sec. Leonor Briones is COVD-19 positive. We are praying that she gets healed from this dreadful disease," presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said.

"Sec. Briones has been an indefatigable and conscientious member of the Cabinet. She will continue to perform her duties as Education Secretary while in isolation and despite her present illness," Panelo added.

Briones said she would "continue working virtually."

She is the second Cabinet member to test positive of the disease after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año who is also on self-quarantine.
