Metro Manila as well as provinces in Calabarzon continue to experience heavy rainfall Sunday as ‘Aghon’ intensified into a tropical storm.

PAGASA said in its 8:00 AM weather bulletin that the cyclone maintained its strength and is now over Dolores, Quezon province, moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (km/h).

‘Aghon’ is forecast to move across the landmass of mainland Calabarzon and Polillo Islands in the next 12 hours. It will likely remain as a tropical storm, but its weakening has not been ruled out.

PAGASA said it may reach a severe tropical storm category by Tuesday and evolve into a typhoon by Wednesday while exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h as of this posting.
