President Marcos appointed Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez as Presidential Assistant for Strategic Communications.
Mr. Marcos signed Chavez’s appointment on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
With the rank of undersecretary, Chavez will be directly under the Office of the President and not the Presidential Communications Office.
Manila Standard previously reported that Chavez is set to join the administration’s communications team.
A well-placed source said Chavez was already attending workshops and meetings inside the Palace as early as November.
Before his appointment, Chavez also served as the Undersecretary for Railways and Light Rail Transit Authority Deputy during the Duterte administration.
Before joining the transport sector, Chavez was Assistant General Manager for Planning of the Metro Manila Development Authority.
He was also a former station manager of dzRH and previously served as chairperson of the National Youth Commission.
The Palace also named new appointees to the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Transportation.
Mary Jean Pacheco and Michel Ablan were appointed DTI Undersecretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively while Jeremy Regino was named DOTr Undersecretary.
