The “no work, no pay” policy will apply during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, which have been declared special non-working days, the Labor department said Wednesday.

The agency made the statement even as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said 10 bus drivers and two conductors tested positive for illegal drug use based on the results of its “Oplan Undaspot,” which aimed to ensure public safety particularly for those traveling to the provinces for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said the results came from the drug tests conducted on 848 bus drivers and seven conductors.

The Labor department said the no work, no pay policy will apply on Nov. 1 and 2, except if there is a company policy ordering payment for those days.

“It applies unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on a special day,” the department said in its advisory.

The agency said the employees who will report for work on Nov. 1 and 2 will receive an extra 30 percent on their basic pay for the first eight hours.

If the employee worked overtime or more than eight hours, he/she will be paid an extra 30 percent on his/her hourly rate.

For work done during the special non-working days that also fall on the employee’s rest day, he/she will be paid an extra 50 percent of his/her basic wage on the first eight hours.

For work done lasting more than eight hours, an employee will be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate.
