JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has directed the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the killing of Mati City, Davao Oriental City Prosecutor Rolando Acido last week.
In a statement, Aguirre condemned the murder of the senior prosecutor who continued to serve in his department despite suffering stroke earlier.
Aguirre denounced the incident as “an act of senseless violence that we will not tolerate.”
“I have already ordered the NBI to investigate this condemnable act. The Department of Justice extends our [sic] condolences to his family and relatives. We will not stop until justice is served,” Aguirre said.
Acido was fatally shot by motorcycle-riding two men while on his way to the Mati Hall of Justice last Oct. 26.
The prosecutor had suffered stroke earlier and was already half paralyzed when he continued to serve as chief prosecutor of Mati City.
