LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The second Pangasinan Night Job Market attracted hundreds of jobseekers recently at the Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Offices Building within the Capitol Complex here.
Eleven local companies and six overseas agencies offered jobs in this first-of-its-kind evening employment activity in the Philippines.
PESO manager Alex Ferrer said the second installment of the country’s pioneering job fair became possible through the dynamic leadership of Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III.
“Through his support, we will continue to sustain activities such as this and more special and local recruitment activities so that it could help our provincemates,” Ferrer said.
Some 27 applicants from 300 jobseekers were hired on the spot during the fair.
Earlier, Ferrer said the evening fair is intended to provide better employment opportunities for career-changers who are employed during daytime. He assured that another night job market will be mounted during the Pistay Dayat in May 2017.
Next year, the provincial government through PESO will roll out its Mobile Skills Training Program—a roving technical education hub, Ferrer said.
“Through this initiative, we can bridge the access to skills and manpower training for our kabaleyans who live away from growth centers and are least serviced by our job fairs,” he added.
This mobile classroom aboard a custom-built truck will stay for 22 days in a town or city, to provide intensive training on “more employable skills” such as carpentry, masonry, and other construction and industrial skills as facilitated by the Technology Education and Skills Development Authority.
