Outstanding cooperatives in Bulacan will be recognized in the Gawad Galing Kooperatiba and Coop Fellowship on October 28 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in Malolos.
The awards are part of the celebration of Cooperative Month this October to be hosted by the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Office (PCEDO).
With the theme “Bulacan Cooperative: Exceeding Limits. Sustaining Excellence,” the celebration will start with a cooperative parade on October 1 at 6 a.m. from the Bulacan Sports Complex to the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, where the opening ceremony will take place.
Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said the celebration will recognize how the cooperatives and micro and small enterprises (MSEs) raised assets and employment in the province.
Among the activities lined up are a food safety seminar on October 11, a two-day Bulacan Hall of Fame League Union credit and risk management seminar on October 12-13 and a cooperative bowling fest on October 14.
The PCEDO will hold a three-day cooperative trade fair on October 17-19 to help local entrepreneurs develop their businesses.
PCEDO officer Cynthia Abiol said a seminar/orientation regarding the rules and regulations of Republic Act 9520 or the Cooperative Code will also be given on October 19.
Moreover, PCEDO will sponsor cooperative blood letting activities on October 18 and 21 with the help of local government units and the Bulacan Local Blood Council.
The celebration of Cooperative Month every October is in accordance with the Presidential Proclamation 493 dated Oct. 27, 2003 that aims to encourage public participation in cooperatives.
