Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has reorganized the Supreme Court’s memberships in the Senate Electoral Tribunal and the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal, which resolve electoral protests arising from the senatorial and congressional polls, respectively.

Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas Bernabe will continue to chair the SET, with Associate Justices Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa and Ramon Paul Hernando as new members.

On the other hand, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen will remain head of the HRET with Associate Justices Rosmari Carandang and Amy Lazaro Javier as new members.

The two electoral tribunals adjudicate cases on election, returns and qualifications of both Houses of Congress.

Besides the SC magistrates, the SET is composed of Senators Richard Gordon, Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, Manny Pacquiao, Manuel Lapid, and Francis Pangilinan as members.
