A departing passenger slammed airport and airline authorities regarding a defective weighing scale at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Terminal 2 last month.

The passenger, David Dimuzio, filed a complaint after the incident happened while he was checking in for his flight at the airport terminal last June 28.

Dimuzio said he was initially informed by the check-in agent that his baggage was overweight but only to find out later that it was within the allowable weight after a second weigh-in using another scale.

Sources said the weighing scale that initially used was not properly calibrated.

The PAL management has reached out to the passenger and apologized for the inconvenience caused to him.

The airlines also assured its passengers of the integrity of its airport operations and continues to coordinate with airport authorities on the upkeep of airport equipment.

The airline has reminded, in the strongest terms, all its airport personnel to check the calibration of devices used for check in activities.

Initial probe found out that no malicious intent or ill-will on the part of its ground staff and agents in the handling of the luggage.
