Outgoing House Speaker Gloria Arroyo has given out anew land titles to urban poor families in Caloocan City.
Arroyo led the distribution of certificates of eligibility to lot award (CELAs) to residents of Camarin, Caloocan City North who qualified under Presidential Proclamation No. 379.
In her speech, Arroyo assured the beneficiaries that they could no longer be ejected from their place or their houses demolished.
“You already have the CELAs, meaning to say the lots have been assigned to you. You can no longer be removed, and that once you have already completed payment, you will now have the title or transfer certificate of title to show to anyone who would be interested to buy your real property,” she said.
Arroyo signed about 118 proclamations during her stint as chief executive so that the urban poor would have ownership of the land where they lived for many years.
She added that she is hoping the implementation of the proclamations she signed would continue even as she is set to step down on June 30.
