The remains of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Joanna Demafelis are being laid to rest today

This is at the Virgin Island Cemetery in remote Sara town in central Iloilo.

Demafelis' father says, even today, help continues to arrive.

Joanna's family is receiving financial assistance worth P 750,000 from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

They are also getting aid from the local government.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello and OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac are attending the funeral mass for Joanna.

Joanna's family recalls she had left for Kuwait to be able to help rebuild their home, which was destroyed by typhoon.

Joanna's body was found early February this year inside a freezer in an abandoned apartment in the gulf state.

She had been missing for more than a year.

In 2016, her family asked for help to be able to locate Joanna, who was working for a Lebanese employer.
