The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) is now set to act on the warrant of arrest for Former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairperson Andres Bautista.

Senate President Koko Pimentel has signed the order.

The Senate operatives are set to coordinate with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to know the whereabouts of Bautista.

Bautista had said he had been going abroad.

He explained he was seeking job opportunities.

He also said he was undergoing some medical treatments.

The arrest order comes after the Senate Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies cited him in contempt.

Senator Francis "Chiz" heads the committee.

Bautista is being hunted for his failure to attend the Senate hearings that were looking into the former Comelec head's alleged ill-gotten wealth.

The controversy stems from the allegations of Bautista's estranged wife Patricia.

She claimed the ex-poll body chief had amassed over about a billion pesos during the period he was working with government.

Bautista refuted Patricia's narrations.

He filed criminal complaints against Patricia in court.
