The Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP/NPA) has declared a unilateral ceasefire in view of the Christmas holiday.
It also coincides with the 49th anniversary of the CPP.

In a statement, the communist rebels said, the ceasefire will take effect tomorrow from 6 pm until December 26, 2017 at 6 pm.
The ceasefire is set again from 6 pm of December 30, 2017 until 6 pm of January 2, 2018.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier announced a ceasefire with the communist insurgents.
Government's ceasefire begins on December 24, 2017 and ends on January 2, 2018.
