President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to sign into law the bill that postpones the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections next month.
At the press briefing in Malacanang, Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Chief Adelino Sitoy said, the President will sign the measure any day now.
Sitoy noted it was the Chief Executive himself who expressed the urgency of enacting a law that resets the elections.
Congress has just passed the bill for this purpose this week.
Prior to these developments, the polls were supposed to be held on October 23, 2017.
The bill up for signing resets the elections to May next year.
