Rebellion raps filed against 11 persons over Marawi siege

Prosecutors of the Department of Justice (DOJ) have filed rebellion cases against 11 individuals for alleged involvement in the siege of Marawi City.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre says, the criminal complaints were filed at Misamis Oriental Regional Trial Court.

The respondents include Ominta “Farhana” Romato Maute, who is the mother of Maute group founders Omar and Abdullah Maute.

She is reportedly the group’s adviser and financier and she allegedly has vast contacts for sources of funds in the country and overseas.

She was nabbed in a checkpoint last Friday in Masiu, Lanao del Sur.

Former Marawi City Mayor Fajad Salic is also included in the charge sheet.

He was arrested last Wednesday at a checkpoint in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
