Visitations for inmates have been prohibited at this time at the Metro Manila District Jail in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
This comes, following the death of two detainees during a riot that erupted in the detention facility on Tuesday night.
Six inmates who sustained injuries are reportedly still in critical condition.
Nine other detainees were wounded in the incident.
The violence was reportedly due to the clash between members of the ‘Bahala na’ and ‘Sputnik’ gangs.
Lack of electricity in the facility under the Bureau of Management and Penology is being cited as the possible source of tension.
Electricity supply in the district jail was cut off a week ago due to unpaid bills.
