Bedbugs in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal seats? That’s currently the rage on social media by people claiming to have been bitten by the insects there – which also prompted the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to do something about it.

Following an investigation, MIAA general manager Eric Ines said they confirmed that the NAIA terminals in question received bedbug complaints from travelers. Two individuals were provided medical assistance.

The seats identified in the reports have been pulled out permanently while disinfection continues, according to MIAA.

Ines said he immediately ordered terminal managers to give him an explanation within 24 hours.

“The MIAA apologizes to the victims and assures them that a speedy resolution to this can be expected,” he said.

He also ordered airport personnel to conduct a comprehensive inspection of facilities and enhance sanitation measures.
