Senate President Francis Escudero said Monday he does not plan to run for president or vice president in the 2028 elections.
Escudero brushed aside speculation he will seek higher office after assuming the Senate presidency and replacing Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri.
The new Senate leader noted that after losing in the 2016 vice presidential race, he never saw himself again running for a higher position.
After the end of his term as senator in 2019, Escudero ran and won as Sorsogon governor.
Being the highest official of the Senate, he would just focus on his job as a senator and Senate President.
In the meantime, Escudero has been meeting with Senate employees “to talk and listen” to them and address any concerns.
