San Miguel Corporation (SMC) said Thursday it expects to complete the expansion of the South Luzon Expressway by December 2024, just in time for the holiday season.
The project, which is about 70-percent complete, would boost the economic prospects of the CALABARZON region and provide significant benefits for motorists, it said.
It said the ongoing SLEX expansion project, led by SMC SLEX Inc., involves widening the expressway from three to four lanes to six lanes on each side. This is expected to dramatically improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity between southern and northern Luzon.
“The SLEX expansion will be a significant boost to the CALABARZON region, which currently generates almost 20 percent of the country’s GDP,” said SMC president and chief executive Ramon Ang.
