SENATOR Aquilino Pimentel III on Monday is bent on taking his fight up to the Supreme Court (SC) over differences with the camp of former President Rodrigo Duterte on the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
“The ideology of PDP-Laban, we will continue its cause even to the Supreme Court… that’s why we have our pending case there,” Pimentel said.
He lamented that the other camp of PDP-laban led by Duterte, does not want to continue the political party’s ideology.
“What they wanted is to change. They made many changes. Both formal and substantive- from the party’s name, the Constitution, the oath taking,” he said.
“If they had to change the basic character of PDP-Laban, then why didn’t they just form their own political party from the very start?” Pimentel noted.
“Why forcibly take over a “left of center” political party and then bring it all the way to the “right?” he asked.
He challenged Duterte’s wing to just organize their own political party since it has no prohibition. “Nobody will be hurt. Nobody will complain.”
