Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. on Friday urged residents of the National Capital Region to visit “Super Kadiwa” centers to be able to buy rice at P39 per kilo and other affordable high-quality produce.

“This would help our kababayans in Metro Manila save money because they can buy one kilo of rice for P39 only. I am calling on everyone to support the ‘Super Kadiwa’ and help our farmers,” he said in a statement.

Super Kadiwa, a limited offering of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, started in April this year and will be open until the end of June in various local government units in the region.

Abalos said the program serves as a platform where local farmers can market their products.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a market linkage facilitation program aimed at making agri-products and other basic commodities accessible and affordable to the poor.

It also seeks to establish an additional market for farmers and fisherfolk to directly sell their products and increase their income, while also bringing down the prices of food commodities in the market as the concept eliminates the role of middlemen.
