COTABATO CITY—The crescent moon was seen Tuesday evening, paving the way for the Eid’l Fitr holiday for Muslims, marking the end of the month-long Ramadan fasting.

Officials and residents watched as the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta commissioned yesterday evening its “Moon Sighting Activity for Eid’l Fitr 2024.”

Mufti Shiekh Abdulrauf Guialani made the announcement at around 8 p.m. yesterday.

It can be recalled that the Bangsamoro Office of Dharul Ifta had its own moon sighting activity last month for the start of Ramadan.

Following the activity launched from different strategic points in mainland Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago, the mufti declared that the moon was not visible on March 10, and that March 12 was the official start of Ramadan here.
