SWS: Sara’s rating up slightly in Q4

Vice President Sara Duterte’s approval rating rose slightly in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released Friday.

The quarterly survey—conducted from December 8 to 11, 2023—also showed that Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri garnered a “good” satisfaction rating of +44, the same rating he received last September.

Speaker Martin Romualdez received a “moderate” net satisfaction rating of +28, lower than his previous “good” +31 rating last quarter.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo also garnered a “good” net satisfaction rating of +32, slightly rising from his “moderate” +27 rating in September, the SWS revealed.

The polling firm released the data for the next four highest government officials after revealing the numbers for President Marcoslast month, which showed the Chief Executive’s net satisfaction rating going up in all areas of the country except in Mindanao.

The survey showed Mr. Marcos getting a rating of +47 (65% satisfiedminus 18% dissatisfied), slightly higher than the +44 he got in September.

The President’s net satisfaction rating was highest in Balance Luzon at very good +52, followed by the Visayas at very good +51, Metro Manila at good +44, and Mindanao at good +38.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating was highest in Mindanao at excellent +83, followed by the Visayas at very good +60, Balance Luzon at verygood +55, and Metro Manila at good +46. Compared to September 2023,all areas had single-digit changes, with Balance Luzon rising from good +46 to very good +55.

The Vice President also received higher ratings in rural areas at excellent +70 than in urban areas at very good +53. Compared to September 2023, both rural and urban areas had single-digit changes, with the former rising from very good +61 to excellent +70.

Meanwhile, the net satisfaction for Speaker Romualdez was highest in the Visayas at good +36, followed by Balance Luzon at moderate +29, Mindanao at moderate +23, and Metro Manila at moderate +22.

Compared to September 2023, all areas had single-digit changes except Mindanao, which fell by 10 points from good +33.

On the other hand, Zubiri’s net satisfaction rating was good in all areas: highest in the Visayas and Mindanao at +48 each, followed by Balance Luzon at +43 and Metro Manila at +34. Compared to September 2023, all areas had single-digit changes, with Mindanao falling from very good +52 to good +48.

The SWS said the survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults — 300 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao — with sampling error margins of ±2.8% for national percentages, and ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
