Heat index in some parts of Metro Manila reached 42 degrees Celsius on Monday, based on the five-day computed two-day forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) as of 5 p.m.

The weather bureau’s Science Garden in Quezon City recorded such a high heat index, or the apparent heat that a human body feels.

For March 26 and March 27, the heat indices may hit 40 degrees Celsius and 41 degrees Celsius, respectively in the National Capital Region.

Dagupan City in Pangasinan also experienced a 42-degree heat index, which is expected over the next couple of days. Temperatures in Davao City in Davao del Sur and Cotabato City in Maguindanao are also forecast at over 40 degrees.

Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao City and Davao del Sur’s heat indices soared to 43 degrees Celsius, the state weather bureau noted.
