Speaker Martin Romualdez welcomed on Wednesday 23 local officials as new members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) before the House of Representatives adjourned to observe the Holy Week break.
Romualdez, the Lakas-CMD president, administered the oath to new party members, including a former lawmaker and 22 others, mostly local officials from various areas of the country.
“As you officially become part of our political family, I am confident that your energy, passion, and ideas will invigorate our collective efforts towards realizing a brighter future for all Filipinos,” Romualdez said.
Among those who shifted to Lakas-CMD during simple rites held at the Social Hall of the Speaker’s Office is former Nueva Ecija Rep. Micaela Violago, previously a member of the National Unity Party.
The new party members from the province of Pangasinan include Mayor Julier Resuello and Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello, both of San Carlos, along with Maan Tuazon-Guico, and lawyer Melanie Lambino.
Mayor Nadya Emano-Elipe of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental led nine other officials of the municipality in taking their oath as new members of the party, including Vice Mayor Robinson Sabio, and Councilors Mikka Sultan, Chicque Cosin-Co, Roger Achas, Cathlyn Valdehueza-Alfante, Karl Marx Agustero, Honey Analou Emano-Doña, Armando Pomar and Audie Paduganan.
Mayors from three Laguna municipalities were also sworn in yesterday as new members of Lakas-CMD, including Romeo Amorado of Majayjay, Vener Muñoz of Rizal, and Elmor Vita of Nagcarlan.
Other local officials from Laguna, who also joined the roster were Mayor Ross Rizal and Vice Mayor Totie Lazaro of Calamba City, and Councilor Roy Gonzales of the City of Sta. Rosa.
Councilor Bobet Vidanes of Pililia, Rizal, and Maria Cristina Tuaño of Oriental Mindoro were also named new entrants to the ranks of Lakas-CMD.
