President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will fly to Germany and the Czech Republic next week for state visits to the two central European nations upon the invitation of their respective leaders.

Mr. Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos received an invitation from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for a working visit and from Czech Republic President Petr Pavel for a state visit.

These consecutive visits are scheduled from March 11 to March 15. This would be the third foreign travel of the President in less than 30 days.

These visits mark significant development as the Philippines recently celebrated 50 years of bilateral relations with the Czech Republic and is set to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Germany this year.

Mr. Marcos recently concluded his state visit to Australia at Canberra from Feb. 28 to 29 and his participation in the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – Australia Special Summit in Melbourne from March 4 to 6.

The President is set to engage in discussions with Chancellor Scholz in Berlin.

Meanwhile, in the Czech Republic, he will hold meetings with the heads of government, including President Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala, alongside the leaders of the Czech Parliament, namely Senate President Miloš Vystrčil and President of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.

The President’s visits to Germany and the Czech Republic are part of a series of engagements with the two European partners, following the trips of the Czech Prime Minister in April 2023 and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in January 2024 to Manila.

Mr. Marcos will also meet with prominent business leaders to explore trade and investment opportunities during his stay in both countries.

Moreover, he will take the chance to interact with Filipino communities living in Germany and the Czech Republic, the Palace said in a statement.
