Filipino hog farmers set the first Guinness World Record for the most number of uniquely prepared pork dishes on display on Friday. Sonia Ushirogochi, Guinness Book of World Records official adjudicator, evaluated the 313 pork dishes, including the iconic lechon, on display during the National Hog Festival at the New Gateway Mall in Quezon City.

“Our organization aims to promote the interests of the local and agricultural sector by promoting food security, food safety, and food sovereignty,” National Federation of Hog Farmers vice chairman Alfred Ng said.

“We’re hoping that the hog festival could intensify tourism in the country, focusing on our rich tradition of cooking Filipino dishes using pork,” he added.

Quezon Mayor Joy Belmonte thanked the organizers for choosing Quezon City for the hog festival.

“It is important for us that you have chosen us. You trusted us as the place where we will attempt to achieve a world record for cooking the most number of original and unique pork-based dishes,” she said.
