The Ministry of Interior and Local Government has established its role in developing governance from the village level to the municipal and provincial local government units of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Through its Support to Local Governance Functional Administrative (LoGFA) Program, the MILG-BARMM has built a total of 323 barangay halls across the Bangsamoro region.

They include 24 village halls in Cotabato City, 56 in Maguindanao del Norte (MDN), 31 in Maguindanao del Sur, 93 in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, 62 in the Special Geographic Area (SGA), 15 in Basilan, 27 in Sulu, and 15 in Tawi-Tawi.

Sixty-six of these barangay halls have been completed, with the remaining 257 still being constructed. Based on the sum of the estimated average population per unit area, a total of 2.4 million BARMM constituents benefited from the MILG’s infrastructure projects, with 9,683 general labor jobs generated.

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim said strengthening local governance down the barangay level effectively acquiesces to the administration’s local government agenda, by improving on the administrative functions and operational powers of LGUs.

Four out of nine municipal police stations of national building standards have been completed, and of the three MILG buildings, two have been completed and one still being constructed.

For seawater desalination plants, 14 have been completed and 10 are still to be installed or delivered. Of the 16 solar-powered water and light systems two are already completed and 14 in various stages of construction.

Of two legislative buildings one has been completed and one is still ongoing. Of 11 community activity centers, five have been completed and six are ongoing, and the construction of two regional reformation centers is ongoing.

Other ongoing projects are six municipal fire stations, two public terminals, one community learning center, one training center, one tourism building and seaport, and one three-phase transmission line.
