The website of the House of Representatives went back online as of 7.35 p.m. on Wednesday after being down for a couple of days due to hacking.

Accessing the website through its URL, https://congress.gov.ph, shows it functioning properly.

However, the website has not been updated as of press time and it contained only stories, photographs and legislative information that were uploaded in September.

The only new item is the statement of the Secretary General dated October 16, saying the website had been restored after it was hacked Sunday.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco has yet to issue an official statement on the matter as of press time.

But the House leadership has committed to working 24/7 to restore the website to its full service.

Velasco earlier said the official website of the House of Representatives went offline again Tuesday due to “suspicious and unusual activities” — two days after hackers defaced its homepage with a mocking message.

The House website was defaced and became inaccessible on Sunday.

Its homepage showed a caricature of a laughing man with this message: “YOU’VE BEEN HACKED. YOU’VE BEEN HACKED. HAVE A NICE DAY.” Underneath, it said: “HAPPY APRIL FULLZ KAHIT OCTOBER PALANG! HACKED BY 3MUSKETEERZ 15-October-2023.”

Velasco said on Tuesday the chamber had to take the website offline on Tuesday as a “precautionary measure to double-check and reinforce the cybersecurity measures that were undertaken.
