Agents foil Malaysian’s attempt to smuggle P25-m shabu at NAIA

Government agents assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport have arrested a 27-year-old Malaysian national for possession of illegal drugs worth P25 million.

Customs personnel from the X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) detected the prohibited substance in the baggage of Mohammad Ahtsham bin Mohammad Afzal upon his arrival at the NAIA Terminal 3.

The foreigner planed in  aboard Ethiopian Airline Flight ET-644 from Addis Ababa on Thursday night.

Investigations revealed that the suspect’s baggage was marked “X” due to suspicious images, leading to a  total physical examination that resulted in the discovery of 3.7 kilos of shabu.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has taken custody of the suspect who will be charged with violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization Act.
