The Land Transportation Office (LTO) vigorously pursues its digitalization program to boost its public service efficiency, specifically the vehicle owners.

The LTO, which is tasked to register motor vehicles, issues driver’s/conductor’s licenses and permits, enforces transportation laws, rules and regulations, and adjudicate apprehension cases, has recently allowed private motor vehicle owners to renew their registration online.

“Bukod po doon, marami pa tayong mga problema na nakikita sa ating ahensya at iyong mga problema na iyon ay ina-analyze po natin, ini-evaluate natin and we are trying to see how we can digitalize or computerize the process,” Tugade explained.

Under the new online process, vehicle owners will only need two requirements when renewing their registration– an inspection receipt from a private motor vehicle inspection center and a Compulsory Third Party Liability (CPTL) car insurance.

The LTO chief said the digitalization projects are on top of its existing programs against fixers and corruption.

The LTO has also signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to help the agency in storing, managing, controlling, and maintaining its technology requirements.|
