The 29-year-old singer and event host from Atimonan, Quezon province was also named Miss Talent, as her victory coincided with the Philippines’ 124th Independence Day anniversary.

Malaysia’s Sandra Lim finished as first runner-up, while Australia’s Brooke Rankin was named second runner-up. Miss Lithuania Sandra Boris and Miss Brazil Natalia Gurgel were 3rd and 4th runners-up, respectively.

During the question-and-answer portion, Tormes was asked to interpret a quote by American actress Angelina Jolie: “Every day we choose who we are by how we define ourselves.”

“We define ourselves by how we act in the community, how we help others. We don’t define ourselves as individuals,” she said.

Prior to the event in Bali, no competitions were held in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Single mother Jessica da Silva of the United Arab Emirates, however, was proclaimed the 2021 winner, the first solo parent to receive the crown.

The Miss Global pageant accepts single mothers and aspirants up to 35 years old to expand the scope of those who can qualify for an international beauty title.
