Water confab set in Cebu City June 15-17

A water districts convention comes off the wraps on June 15-17 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel to tack issues and challenges concerning the delivery of sustainable and reliable water supply to households and other consumers.

Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) acting administrator Eileen Dela Vega will deliver the keynote address at the conference to be attended by representatives of 530 water districts nationwide.

The event, organized by the Philippine Association of Water Districts, will have for its them “Water Governance Towards Building a Better Normal.”

Topics up for discussions cover such issues as climate change, increasing water demands, declining per capita water availability, deteriorating water quality, financial stress, and water security among others.

These issues, according to Dela Vega, were aggravated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 1,400 delegates from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have confirmed their attendance at the said event, including board members of of water districts, general managers, employees, guests from other government agencies and private companies, and water industry suppliers and manufacturers.
