Vice President Leni Robredo reaffirmed her love for Lanao del Sur, which she called her “second home,” committing to bring more help for them should she be elected in the 2022 presidential race.

The mood was jovial on Robredo’s return to the city of Marawi for the “LeniWanagMarawi: Lanao Del Sur People’s Rally” for the Leni-Kiko tandem. Maranaos from all walks of life gathered and painted the streets of Marawi City pink to show their support for Robredo and her running-mate, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

She also expressed to continue supporting Marawi and Lanao Del Sur, while slamming other politicians who seem to have focused on Marawi only during the election season.

In Marawi City alone, Robredo said her office, through the help of its partners, was able to bring more than P100 million worth of assistance to aid the city’s rehabilitation from the 2017 war. The Office of the Vice President also put up Community Learning Hubs and school buildings and supported the livelihood of women weavers in Brgy. Dayawan.

The University of the Philippines’ Student Council at the Diliman campus in Quezon City meanwhile endorsed the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem in the 2022 elections. “The endorsement is premised on the broad desire to defeat the Marcos-Duterte alliance and on significant points of unities on people’s issues,” it said.

In a Facebook post, the council disclosed that it has passed Resolution No. 2022-03 to endorse the Leni-Kiko tandem.

Robredo and Pangilinan are both graduates of economics degree in 1986 and Bachelor of Arts in English, Major in Comparative Literature at UP Diliman, respectively. The UP Los Baños’ University Student Council is also supporting Robredo and Pangilinan. With Rio N. Araja
