Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. again dominated the latest OCTA Research ‘Tugon ng Masa’ survey, where the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas obtained a preference rating of 55-percent.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said the survey was conducted from February 12 to 17, after the official launch of the campaign period for the May 2022 elections.
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Marcos’ running mate, remained on top of the vice presidential race based on the same survey.
Duterte, chair of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, got 43 percent preference, scoring 40 percent in the National Capital Region, 24 percent in Balance Luzon, 43 percent in Visayas, and 82 percent in Mindanao.
The daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte was followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III (33 percent), Senator Francis Pangilinan (33 percent), Dr. Willie Ong (7 percent), House Deputy Speaker Lito Atienza (1 percent), and Carlos Serapio (0.1 percent).
A total of 1,200 individuals responded to the survey, with the question, “If the election were held today, who would you likely vote for as president?”
The survey had a margin of error of 3 percent, David said.
The OCTA poll showed that the former senator scored 46 percent in Metro Manila, 56 percent in Balance Luzon, 47 percent in Visayas, and 65 percent in Mindanao.
Vice President Leni Robredo followed Marcos with 15 percent, with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno rating 11 percent, Senator Manny Pacquiao with 10 percent, and Senator Panfilo Lacson with 3 percent.
In a statement, the Marcos’ camp expressed its deepest appreciation to OCTA Research for its “selfless endeavor of regularly bringing the true sentiments of the Filipino people to light.”
“The latest Tugon ng Masa survey results of OCTA Research confirm that presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s direct way of communicating with the people on the ground truly works,” lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson, said.
“Certainly, there is no substitute for showing up in person, in flesh and blood, just to be in the company of millions of individuals one wishes to serve,” he added.
Rodriguez also said the Marcos’ camp enjoined the Commission on Elections in guaranteeing a free, orderly, and honest elections.
In the recent Pulse Asia survey, Marcos also topped the presidential survey at 60 percent, with Robredo placing far second at 16 percent.
In the senatorial race, Antique Representative Loren Legarda topped the field.
The survey showed Legarda with 66 percent rating, which could secure her the first to third spot in the Senate’s magic 12.
She was followed by broadcaster Raffy Tulfo with 63 percent, Taguig City Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano with 61 percent, re-electionist Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri with 60 percent, Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero with 59 percent, and former Public Works Secretary Mark Villar with 56 percent.
Actor Robin Padilla ranked sixth in the survey with 43 percent rating, followed by re-electionist Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and former Vice President Jejomar Binay both with 39 percent, re-electionist Senator Risa Hontiveros with 38 percent, former senator Jinggoy Estrada with 27 percent, and former senator JV Ejercito with 35 percent.
Following the top 12 are reelectionist Senator Joel Villanueva (33 percent), former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista (31 percent), former Information and Communications secretary Gringo Honasan (29 percent), reelectionist Senator Richard Gordon (2 percent), former senator Antonio Trillanes IV (21 percent), and former PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar (20 percent).
