Flag carrier Philippine Airlines is canceling more domestic and international flights beginning yesterday until Jan. 24 due to the increasing number of workers who had to undergo self-isolation.

PAL suspended more than 240 domestic flights and at least 60 international flights.

“We continue to experience challenges in sustaining full operations because an increasing number of our frontline and support personnel are unable to report for work due to precautionary quarantine or self-isolation requirements,” said PAL in a statement.

The PAL management assured that the airline is taking all precautionary measures and is doing everything to maintain as many other flights as possible, process all passenger requests and relieve the longer call waiting times and ticket office queues.

“We are also compelled to cancel some international flights to comply with newly reduced limits to the daily number of passenger arrivals allowed at Manila airport by the Philippine government authorities,” it stated.

Canceled international flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport include flights to and from Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, Nagoya, Riyadh, Melbourne, Osaka, Hong Kong, Guam, Dubai, Fukuoka, Dammam, Taipei, Doha, and Port Moresby.

The suspended domestic flights in NAIA include those going to and from Cenu, Caticlan, Busuanga, Iloilo, Legazpi, Cotabato, Dipolog, Butuan, Davao, Puerto Princesa, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, Tagbilaran, Kalibo, Pagadian, Roxas, Ozamiz, Basco, Dumaguete, and Bacolod.

“This is a very fluid situation. We may need to cancel more flights or make other operational adjustments in the coming days,” stated the PAL management.

The airline urged affected passengers to avail options of converting their tickets to Travel Credits equivalent to the unused base fare of your ticket; Rebook or Reroute the ticket to another flight with available space within 60 days from the original flight in the same booking class or higher within the same cabin class, or Refund ticket without penalties, excluding Ticketing Service Charge.
