Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym came out of the gates firing and hung on to a hard-earned unanimous decision victory over Sean “Clubber” Clancy in the main event of the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED II, which aired to the public on Friday, 11 September.
Promising to put on a show for the fans, both World Champions certainly laid it all on the line in a match that was not short of action.
It was the PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym standout who started off well, effectively cornering Clancy as he kept pushing forward and landing heavy elbows and punches.
That aggression paid off for Pongsiri early in the second round when a booming left hook stunned Clancy before a short right elbow sent him down.
Clancy, however, would not go gently into the night.
Despite absorbing a lot of damage in the second round, the 31-year-old Irishman kept moving forward in the final frame of the match – and this time, the results turned out favorable for him.
Thinking that he needed a finish to win, Clancy poured it on Pongsiri, landing uppercuts and hooks in the pocket as the Thai’s high-octane offense in the first two rounds seemed to fade.
Luckily for the Thai, he had enough of a buffer in the first two stanzas as he came away the victor after three hard-fought and exciting rounds.
In other matches, "The Kicking Machine" Superlek Kiatmoo9 kept his immaculate record in ONE Super Series after beating Fahdi “The Gladiator” Khaled via unanimous decision, while 16-year-old Supergirl Jaroonsak Muaythai scored a first-round 60-second knockout of Milagros Lopez in her debut.
