Another phase in McCoy’s careerYoung actor McCoy de Leon admitted that he found it hard to say goodbye to Star Magic before inking a contract with Viva Artists Agency.

“Actually, there’s no conflict in my moving to VAA since my contract with Star Magic has already expired at the start of the pandemic,” McCoy revealed in a recent digital press conference.

“I became a freelancer though I told Star Magic that they can still handle the scheduling for my projects. You know, even if I don’t have a contract with them, saying goodbye is a very difficult process,” he added.

Before signing up with VAA, the 25-year-old actor admitted that there came a point when he wanted to quit showbiz and just pursue his studies. Only, a positive development came.

“I wanted to study and leave the ‘biz permanently. But a sign came that made me realize that there are still opportunities for me. There’s nothing wrong if I grab it, right? I still want to act and try other things related to it,” McCoy stated.

Now that he’s a Viva talent, McCoy is excited about this new phase in his career. He believes that through Viva’s help, he would be able to realize his dream of becoming a good actor “and making a lot of movies.”

Meanwhile, McCoy didn’t deny that he also felt depressed with the shutdown of ABS-CBN. He was afraid thinking of how his future would be if he lost his job.

“I thought of my family. I want my siblings to continue school. I want to tell my folks that they should not worry for I will take care of everything. I want them to feel secured and comfortable,” he said.

McCoy is grateful to the fact that he was able to save enough and that’s what they’re spending during this pandemic. He has also invested in some properties, which serve as his source of income at the moment.

“We don’t know what the future holds. Like this COVID-19 pandemic. What if it struck and you’re not ready financially? It’s hard,” the actor stated.

The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate has gone back to school, too, during the pandemic. He’s taking up Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology.
