Registering for gifts is not as popular a practice here in the Philippines as it is in other countries. The tradition, said to be initiated by Marshall Field’s in 1924, is intended to make wedding gift giving easier and help prevent the receipt of duplicate or unwanted gifts.

WISH LIST. Gift registry services ensure the celebrant gets what they want, while the giver saves time deciding what to buy.

The couple gets what they want, the giver saves time deciding what to buy. Win-win.

While wedding registry services have been available in the Philippines, typically provided free of charge to an engaged couple, many opt not to use them because of wedding gift registry guilt – seeing them as a list of demands.

The SM Store Gift Registry app is a one-stop gift registry service that lets celebrants of any occasion register for gifts, which givers can easily access and purchase on the app.

The pandemic and the challenges of getting together highlighted services such as gift registry that makes celebrating a milestone or making someone happy more convenient. As such, the SM Store makes it easier to register for gifts with the recent launch of its new gift registry app.

The SM Store Gift Registry App is a one-stop gift registry that offers a wide range of products from over a hundred brands perfect as gifts for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, baptisms, housewarmings, and any other occasion in between.

To use the service, download the SM Store Gift Registry app, sign up, and create or view an event for a celebration. Users can manage the event page on the app and personalize it with their own event invite.

Once the event is set, users can add items to their wish list from the The SM Store Gift Registry’s catalog that guests can select and buy online.

Registrants can manage and track the gifts purchased by their guests, as well as share the event and link of their wish list with their family and friends through Facebook, Instagram, and Viber. Users can manage multiple gift registries for any occasion.

Online payment options such as debit or credit cards, mobile payment services, and digital wallets like GrabPay and GCash are accepted to pay for purchases made on the app. For virtual celebrations or those who want to surprise a loved one, they can avail free gift wrapping and free delivery gifts to the celebrants.

Aside from the app, celebrants and party organizers can register at the SM Gift Registry section in SM stores.
