Seeking your best relationship this love month

Entering the love month of February on a journey of self-love is not just a step but a life shift. Sanaiyah Gurnamal, a life designer and well-being and relationship coach, is the voice behind the Project Loving Myself podcast, which guides us through the power of self-love. As a former client and student in some of her workshops, I witnessed how Sanaiyah unravels the transformative force that lies within, impacting every facet of our lives.

Beyond her podcast, Sanaiyah is the founder and owner of The Third Eye Wellness Center in the Philippines, a one-stop healing and personal development sanctuary. At the center, she provides sessions aligned with one’s life goals, fostering the achievement of one’s best self.

With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Economics, and Communication Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Entrepreneurship diploma from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Sanaiyah has been in the Philippines for more than a decade, bringing her wealth of knowledge and experience to those seeking holistic well-being.

In 2021, Sanaiyah’s wellbeing practice became word of mouth when her soulmate manifestation exercise with actress and social media personality Ellen Adarna on the podcast proved to be effective. In just a few months, Ellen was engaged and married to actor and entrepreneur Derek Ramsay.

In her latest podcast, Sanaiyah dives into the core of self-love, emphasizing that it’s more than fuzzy feelings – it’s a powerhouse. It acts as the catalyst for enhancing self-confidence, resilience, decision-making, and mindset. The art lies in treating oneself with the same kindness and respect given to others.

Prioritizing yourself

In a world that often glorifies busyness, Sanaiyah highlights the importance of giving time to yourself. As she shared, responding to your needs and prioritizing what truly matters isn’t selfish; it’s self-preservation. It’s about being the bouncer of your VIP club, only allowing in those who genuinely deserve a spot.

Self-Love chemistry

Delving into the science behind self-love, Sanaiyah takes us on a journey through the brain’s reward system. Practicing self-love triggers a party in your brain, inviting feel-good chemicals and releasing the ultimate one – dopamine. It’s your brain’s way of celebrating positive behaviors and reinforcing that self-love is a path worth pursuing.

Rewiring for positivity

Unpacking the concept of neuroplasticity, Sanaiyah explains how our brains have a built-in remodeling feature. Embracing self-love kicks neuroplasticity into high gear, allowing your brain to positively rewire itself based on experiences. Over time, it forms new, more positive pathways related to self-love and acts of love.

Becoming your biggest cheerleader

Self-love isn’t just about personal transformation; it’s a journey within. It makes you your biggest cheerleader, turning challenges into stepping stones. Imperfections become unique brushstrokes in the masterpiece of your life as Sanaiyah said. Your mindset becomes a toolbox, shaping thoughts that build greatness.

Seeking your most important relationship

In a world that often focuses on external connections, cultivating self-love is the foundation for all other relationships. To dive deeper into this transformative journey, check out the Project Loving Myself podcast’s episode 148 for the full discussion.

This month should be a gentle reminder that self-love is an investment. This is supported by what Sanaiyah always says when she ends a podcast episode, “The most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself.”
