“Nothing in life happens by accident.”

That is what chemist, philanthropist, and social media personality Pinky Tobiano reiterated at the 30th National Public Relations Congress of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), where she was the guest speaker.

The Queen of Tablescaping shared fresh insights as she talked about “Digital Footprints to Frenzy: Mastering the Art of Online Impact in PR,” to bridge the gap between institutions and the communities they serve.

With Brian King Ong as moderator, the PR congress allowed Pinky to share her successful journey into social media.

From having only 200 followers pre-pandemic, her followers on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok rose to an admirable combined number of more than 5 million to date and still growing.

Pinky believes that “timing is everything.” During the pandemic, when Rustan’s saw her detailed tablescaping work (@tablelovebypinky), they got her as an influencer for the brand. In only two weeks, Pinky sold out Rustan’s six-month plate inventory at the height of the pandemic.

The abundant blessings from various brands enabled Pinky to give back to the less fortunate, with a special focus on abused individuals, children with disabilities and abandoned elderly. Her life journey and story are truly inspiring, marked by her courage in overcoming obstacles, including a battle with cancer.

Today, Pinky leads a purpose-driven life, balancing her advocacy work with her profession as a chemist. She generously shared insights on growing one’s social media following and becoming a social media influencer: authenticity, passion-sharing, content enhancement, niche finding, and giving back, notably through her Grateful Tuesdays.

This year’s PR congress centers around the theme of time, akin to a humble gnomon, a component of a sundial that casts a shadow. The PRSP presents “Gnomon: Championing PR from Intention to Impact.”
