The Parañaque City government was among local government units in Metro Manila recently conferred with the Seal of Child-friendly Local Governance award by the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children in the annual event spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Interior and Local Government held at Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Muntinlupa City.

City public information chief Mar Jimenez, who represented the city government in the event, received the plaque of recognition from Jovian Ingeniero, assistant to the regional director of DILG-NCR, Lawyer Mari Joy Segui, CESO III and deputy executive director CWC, and Lucia Brono, RCWC-RAC chairperson.

The recognition was based on the results of the child-friendly local governance audit conducted on Metro Manila’s cities and municipalities by the Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force as validated and endorsed by the RCWC, which is being chaired by the DSWD-NCR.

Segui said the seal is given to LGUs that managed to generate positive programs and services for the welfare of the children based on their performance from the previous year of 2016.

Last year, Paranaque was also conferred by the council for the Welfare of Children for the LGU’s “commitment in promoting child rights to survival, development, protection and participation.”
