Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Cagayan Valley recently donated lumber to the Department of Education (DepEd) for their school building projects.
DENR Regional Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said the 15,000 board feet of forest products were turned over by the FCF Minerals Corporation after these were affected by the development in the mining areas of Quezon and Kasibu towns.
The turn-over of the confiscated common hardwood lumber was made through the signing of the Deed of Donation between DENR Regional Executive Director Bambalan and Schools Division Superintendent Rachel Llana.
“Our common goal is the improvement of government service in this region. Other government agencies can also avail of the confiscated forest products provided they will submit request and indicate the purpose of which the forest products will be used. We just have to make sure that all requirements are in place before disposal,” Bambalan said.
Roscoe Gacusana, representative of DepEd Schools Division Superintendent Rachel Llana expressed their gratitude to the DENR.
“He said the DENR assistance will make our schools conducive for learning. This will be used by 12 recipient elementary and secondary schools for infrastructure projects and school building improvement,”. he said.
