P2.5-million fake cigarettes confiscated

Santiago City—Two suspects, including a Chinese national, have been arrested and detained by the authorities while P2.5 million worth of fake cigarettes had been seized by authorities during a raid by local police as well as a Customs officer and a representative of the Japan Tobacco Inc.

By virtue of Letter of Authority 07-07-053-2020 from the Bureau of Customs signed by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, a raid was conducted at the warehouse and store of TOP Warehouse in this city which resulted in the seizure of 81 boxes Marvel Filter King and 5 boxes Mighty Green fake cigarettes amounting to P2,580,000 loaded in an Isuzu Forward truck.

The suspects were identified as Tonron Ferrer Quejada (Filipino), 23 years old, single, assistant manager, a native of Lourdes, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, residing in Mabini, Santiago City, and Fubin Huang, (Chinese National), 25 years old, single, manager, residing in Cauayan City, Isabela.
