BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – Governor Jose “Jing” V. Gambito recently oversaw the delivery of financial assistance to deserving hog farmers who had been severely affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak.
The governor expressed his full support for the province’s hog farmers, acknowledging their significant contribution to food security and the local economy at the Ammungan Hall, Capitol Compound.
During the distribution, Gambito asked hog raisers to closely adhere to biosecurity measures in their communities to protect the hog industry.
“Let us work together to implement the biosecurity measures taught to us by agriculture officials in order to mitigate the catastrophic impacts of the ASF. Together, we will rebuild stronger and more resilient agricultural practices,” he said.

Nueva Vizcaya has been under a state of calamity due to the ASF’s impact on the local hog sector, which has affected 12 of the province’s 15 municipalities.
The provincial administration of Nueva Vizcaya has granted P8 million as compensation to hog farmers who have been severely affected by African Swine Fever (ASF).
Meanwhile, Dr. Patricio Moreno, provincial veterinarian, stated that the recipients were chosen from the hardest-hit communities — Bayombong, Bambang, Solano, Aritao, Dupax del Norte, Dupax del Sur, and Sta. Fe, Quezon, Kasibu, Kayapa, Bagabag, Diadi.
Each of the 158 hog raisers who lost their livelihoods as a result of the province’s ASF epidemic received indemnification aid ranging from P2,500 to P5,000.
“There will be another round of beneficiaries for this initiative. We are already completing the necessary documentation for them to receive support from the provincial government in order to reestablish their livelihood,” Moreno said.
The event was a positive step towards addressing the difficulties confronting the local hog industry, the governor’s office said.
“Governor Gambito’s hands-on approach and attention to supporting suffering hog raisers demonstrate his commitment to the welfare and viability of the region’s agriculture industry,” it added in a statement.
